Matla’s story based on the paintings which have been drawn since her childhood and the photographs which have been taken since 2005 by the founder/designer Duygu Özdemir Kibar. Although she had her education on civil engineering and she has worked as an engineer in private sector for 8 years, she always imagined to create a job in which she can always enjoy and further develop herself, associating this job with painting and photography. She decided to go to India at a moment of exhaustion due to intensive workload in a period she thought she spent her life and creativity too early. She find the chance to question herself within chaos and tranquility of India. This was a journey, after which she returned Ankara with desire and enthusiasm to produce something she enjoy. After arriving Ankara, she left from her job to realize her dreams. Thus, Matla became the name of the products, which she nurture herself as well as she depict her ties with painting, photography and India and her relation with nature.
The women of matla have been imagined to be interwined with nature where they belong to. matla took inspiration from nature where it all began… and from women… the women who are aware that they are part of nature, not from women who dominate nature.
